The presentation, titled “Premier Athletic & Recreation Campus Update – Vision and Framework”, was presented to Dublin City Council on February 17, 2026. It outlines the City’s vision for developing a major athletic and recreation campus (PARC) as part of the Western Innovation District (WID) in southwestern Dublin, Ohio.

•  Project Location: The proposed campus spans approximately 243 acres in the area of SportsOhio, Darree Fields, Shepherd Excavating, and surrounding land near Cosgray Road, University Boulevard, and Shier Rings Road.

•  Vision: Create a premier athletic destination that connects the community, drives economic development, and delivers a uniquely Dublin experience.

•  Proposed Features:

•  Multiple outdoor athletic fields (soccer, baseball/softball)

•  Indoor facilities (fieldhouse, ice rinks, basketball/volleyball courts)

•  Golf facilities, trails, playgrounds, dog park, and passive recreation areas

•  Supporting infrastructure including parking, visitor center, and potential partnerships

•  Connection to WID: Positioned as an integral element of the West Innovation District, combining recreation with economic development goals.

• Increased traffic, parking demands, and congestion on local roads, creating safety risks for pedestrian traffic including children, families, and athletes walking or biking to the facilities.

• The sports complex is being built adjacent to industrial buildings, exposing children and families to potential toxic chemicals, air and noise pollution, and heavy truck traffic.

•   Broader safety risks associated with industrial uses (such as advanced manufacturing and research activities) located near athletic fields and recreational areas where large numbers of children and families will gather.

•   The proposed plan overlaps an existing home and business, with the property owners only learning about the potential impact through this presentation.

•  Long-term impacts on community character and the compatibility of mixing high-intensity industrial development with family recreation spaces.

•   Questions regarding light pollution, phasing, funding, and overall scale of the project in relation to nearby residential neighborhoods.

The Premier Athletic & Recreation Campus (PARC) remains in the planning and visioning phase.

•  In February 2026, City Council received a detailed presentation outlining the vision and framework for the 243-acre campus.

•  The City has adopted the PARC Vision Framework, establishing the long-term concept for the project.

•  The campus is planned as a major component of the Western Innovation District (WID), anchored by the existing SportsOhio facility.

•  Initial funding of $3.8 million has been allocated in the 2026–2030 Capital Improvement Budget for early improvements, including parking upgrades, landscaping, environmental enhancements, and design work.

The project is still in early development. No final site plans, detailed engineering, or construction timelines have been approved yet. Additional public input opportunities and Council reviews are expected as the project moves forward.
